Last year, the inspectorate downgraded the department to a one-star rating (out of three) because of concerns about children's services. But the new report says Reading is "serving children well" and that there were "signs of improvement" in child protection and assessment, among other services.
Pete Ruhemann, social services and health lead councillor, said: "The inspectors have acknowledged that we have made across-the-board improvements."
