The loans are designed to enable foster carers and adopters to take on disabled children or groups of brothers and sisters who might otherwise be split up. They can be used to build extensions, make disability adaptations and in rare cases help buy a bigger home.
Felicity Collier, chief executive of BAAF Adoption & Fostering, said publicising the availability of the loans would encourage more people to consider fostering and adoption. John Richards, interim head of children's services at Oxfordshire council, said the loans created a "win-win" situation for everyone.
