Social Care News: Foster care - National helpline is finally launched

A national helpline to support foster carers is up and running, the Fostering Network has announced.

The launch follows a series of delays. The Government first promised that the helpline, which will provide foster carers with an independent source of information and advice, would be ready by January (Children Now, 8-14 December 2004).

The line will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but closed on bank holidays, and will be staffed by fostering experts.

There will also be postal and email addresses for enquiries and an out-of-hours answer phone service.

The Fosterline number is 0800 040 7675.
