About 50 MPs have given their support to the Bill, which campaignershope will be proposed as a private member's Bill later this week(Children Now, 15-21 November).
Under the Bill, local authorities and health authorities will berequired to provide short breaks for parents to help children and theircarers.
Steve Broach, manager for the campaign, said the current definition ofdisability in the Children Act 1989 was "pejorative".
The definition included in the Short Breaks Bill would include childrenwith cancer, high-function autism and "fluctuating conditions", such asmental health problems.
