Social Care News: Children's services - New Zealand model inspires Hampshire

Hampshire council members have been asked to approve a major overhaul of the county's children's services based on New Zealand's model.

The strategy has been drawn up following a two-week study tour of the country undertaken by Steve Love, assistant director for children and families, and councillor Felicity Hindson, the council's executive member for social care (News, 14-20 April).

They have proposed a plan that includes expanding the use of family group conferences and establishing an exchange programme for Hampshire and New Zealand social care staff.
