Health authorities were instructed to set up child health and maternitynetworks by the children's national service framework in 2004 andinvited to bid for money to kick start them. Only three strategic healthauthorities, including Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, got the maximumamount of 250,000.
Hampshire will use the money to support the delivery of its maternityservices network.
Angela Anderson, children, young people and maternity network manager atthe strategic health authority, said: "It's an impetus for us to getpeople together and benchmark where they are against the nationalservice framework - to see where we are meeting standards and where weneed to improve."
