Social Care News: Children's services - 6.8m written off to aid Lincs service

A 6.8m overspend by Lincolnshire County Council's social services department has been written off in order to improve children's services.

The council has also set aside 6.6m of its 125m social services budget to improve performance.

The news follows figures showing that 524 children are still waiting to have a social worker allocated to their case. In February the figure was 750.

County councillor Edward Bliss said extra social workers had been deployed by the authority to try to cut the backlog. He also said every child at risk was dealt with immediately.
