Social Care News: Children in care - Children speak up about theirrights

Children in care want the right to study for a degree and veto moves to new placements.

A report by Roger Morgan, the children's rights director for England, asked looked-after children what rights and responsibilities they shouldhave.

Children told Morgan they should have the right to make food forthemselves, to have somewhere stable in their lives, and to "not betreated as stupid because you have problems".

In terms of responsibilities, the children said they should respect careworkers, look after any pets they own, and be responsible for their ownactions.
