Social Care News: Childcare - Online resource to access shared care

1 min read
Frontline groups have welcomed new best-practice guidance for doctors for giving advice on sexual health and contraceptives to under-16s.A new web site to help parents share childcare was launched yesterday (3 August).

By logging on to the site www.sharingcare.co.uk, parents can search for families living in the same area who are willing to share a full-time nursery place or the cost of a nanny.

The web site has been developed by national childcare charity Daycare Trust, nanny agency Tinies Childcare and Nannytax, a payroll service for parents and nannies.

Stephen Burke, director of Daycare Trust, said: "By sharing childcare, parents can increase the affordability and flexibility of their childcare."

Registration on the web site is free before 31 October.

They praised the Department of Health's move, which for the first time says health professionals should establish a "rapport" with young patients and give them "time and support to make an informed choice".
