Social Care News: Adoption - BAAF sets sights on minority parents

BAAF Adoption & Fostering is considering launching a new adoption web site to help tackle problems in recruiting potential parents from Black, Asian and mixed-race communities.

The site, under consideration for launch next year, will run side-by-side with the Be My Parent adoption newspaper.

Difficulties in recruiting from minority communities were highlighted last week in a report from children's charity NCH. It cited the youth of many black and ethnic populations, the impact of racism and a lack of requisite local data as the main barriers to recruitment.

Although acknowledging the difficulties, BAAF Adoption & Fostering highlighted the measures it already had in place.
