A new method of care developed in the US is being used in two Lancashire care homes to reduce the number of physical interventions.

Independent care provider: Perpetual Care looks after children in its two care homes in Lancashire as well as providing professional carers for children with complex needs.

The organisation has recently adopted a new method of caring for children and young people, called the Nurtured Heart Approach.

Alastair Gardiner, director of practice at the organisation, travelled to the US to be trained in the method, and having implemented it on his return believes it has had a positive impact on the relationship between staff and young people.
