Since taking over two residential care homes in West Sussex nearly two years ago, residential provider Cura Services has tried to instil a different culture in the children's homes it runs.

According to Nick Rousseau, Cura's company and operations co-ordinator, the shift to a more therapeutic kind of care involving psychological services, has been key when caring for children often traumatised by past abuses.

"A lot of young people that come into care do need therapeutic support," explains Rousseau. "The therapist is part of the reviews we have of each young person's care plans and our psychological services run courses for staff."
