How we are improving... Provision for looked-after children in Trafford

A rise in the number of care leavers going on to education or employment and a decrease in the number of looked-after children experiencing multiple-placement moves helped Trafford secure a positive report from Ofsted.

Council Trafford Council
Performance Provision and outcomes for looked-after children

A recent Ofsted inspection of Trafford's safeguarding and looked-after children services highlights the positive impact of the authority's multi-agency work and grades its effectiveness for children in care and care leavers as "good".

The judgment reflects a number of improvements made in the council's performance for looked-after children.

These range from the increasing percentage of care leavers securing a place in education or employment to the decreasing percentage of looked-after children experiencing multiple placement moves. The authority has also continued to strive to ensure all looked-after children's cases are reviewed within required timescales.

The report states: "All care leavers have a Connexions personal adviser. A good range of post-16 provision is available within the borough, including a diverse range of vocational programmes."
