Social Care: Child abuse - Europe looks at internet safety

The European Commission is consulting on ways to keep children safe while on the internet.

The consultation looks at ways to stop the distribution of child sexabuse images, stop children getting access to unsuitable web sites andhow to prevent grooming through online chat forums.

Some of the possibilities raised in the consultation include advisingchildren through the school curriculum and developing technology thatcan make the use of the internet safer.

The commission's consultation runs until 7 June.
