What exactly is financial education?
Learning about money, and a lot more besides. High-quality financial education should aim to give young people the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to manage their personal finances and make informed financial decisions.
Achieving this means helping young people understand more about money, how it is earned, saved and spent, weighing up risk and reward and, crucially, relating financial decisions to the rest of their lives.
It also needs to cover consumer decisions - how to compare different products, understanding value for money and making informed choices when it comes to purchasing products and services. It can be taught in the classroom, in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, and is something that young people really enjoy and engage with.
