What is conflict?

Conflict is an inevitable part of all our lives – ranging from minor disagreements to violence. We all have conflict with ourselves and with others, but only we have the power over how we deal with it. When left alone, conflict can fester and become destructive, leading to a breakdown in communication and escalated tensions. However, when managed, conflict can be a catalyst for making positive changes.

How can conflict affect professionals?

Professionals working with young people are likely to come in to contact with conflict in many forms – from back-chatting to physical confrontation. The conflict might be between young people or between young person and professional.
