It is therefore seeking views on a single equality scheme, which will replace the three separate schemes currently in use: disability equality, race equality, and gender equality.
The purpose of this consultation is to establish Ofsted's key equality priorities, which will then be used to create a single equality scheme to help improve the watchdog's inspection and regulation activities.
The single scheme will include the seven strands of equality: age, disability, faith and belief, gender, gender identity, race, and sexual orientation. It aims to narrow the gap of achievement and opportunity for all children, young people and learners.
A draft scheme will be put forward for further consultation in December and the final scheme will be published in April 2010.
