Sheffield teens help in clear-up

Youth Work
Teenagers from Darnall in Sheffield have been putting something back into their community by planting trees in the area.

Darnall Youth, a youth group run by local charity Sheffield Futures, planted trees at Darnall Fire Station with the co-operation of parks and fire services. The young people also picked up litter as part of the initiative.

Teenagers from the project have been learning about the benefits of recycling and eating organic food and also went on a three-day residential trip to an eco-friendly outdoor activity centre in Somerset.

Glyn Chappell, youth worker for the Sheffield Futures, said the programme helped the young people's self-confidence grow immensely.
