Shaun Polley 17, Berkshire

Since joining Connexions Berkshire in November 2007 as a youth participation worker, I have worked on several projects. One of the first was organising and running a consultation day in Bracknell. For this I had to book a venue, organise food and arrange to have young people at the event. I invited students from the local college, some of whom had learning disabilities or difficulties. At the event we found out their views on our publicity and how we could improve it.

In Bracknell, I'm currently setting up a youth representation group, aimed primarily at vulnerable young people, to work alongside Connexions and the local authority. And in Maidenhead I'm working with the local authority to get young people involved in the interviewing process for service contracts.

I've worked with Connexions Berkshire, both as a young person and now as an employee, and they have supported me in this transition phase of my life - as they strive to do with all young people.
