Sexual Health: Lack of funding puts HIV centre plans at risk

1 min read

Despite a recent 20,000 grant from HIV and Aids charity Crusaid, Clint Walters, who runs the Health Initiatives charity, still needs to find another 30,000. The centre would allow young people to get HIV tests in a supportive and youth-friendly environment, and would be open at weekends.

Walters has been struggling for nearly three years to raise the funds and find the right building for the project. He has found a 2,600sq ft building in Victoria, London, but needs the money to secure it.

"This building is perfect as it is ex-medical with six consulting rooms and a reception area. It is also next to a GP's surgery, and it has a medical licence," said Walters, who was himself diagnosed HIV positive at age 17.
