Mary MacLeod, the founding chief executive of the institute, received an OBE for voluntary and public service. She said the award acknowledged the work of everyone at the parenting charity: "It is recognition of the work that the institute has done to champion children and families and to make sure their views are heard in developing policy and services."
Macleod, who set up the charity in 1999, said the OBE also recognises her work at ChildLine, where she was involved in a number of campaigns on highlighting children's views.
Vivienne Evans, chief executive of drug and alcohol charity Adfam, also received an OBE, for services to families and carers in drug education. She said: "I am delighted to receive an OBE, and very pleased that Adfam's work with the families of drug and alcohol users is being recognised in this time-honoured way. These awards are a valuable acknowledgement of behind-the-scenes community work, and can only help our campaigns."
