The recent British Crime Survey has highlighted just how vulnerable young people are to crime and aggressive behaviour, demonstrating that 10- to 15-year-olds are actually four times more likely than adults to be a victim of personal crimes such as robbery, assault and theft.
Stereotypes often portray us as a generation of thugs and yobs. However, these new figures show that this is not true and how important it is for the Metropolitan Police to work alongside young people to achieve community safety.
If I were in charge, I would put more practical solutions in place where police work with youth workers to build relationships with young people who are at risk of offending.
