Youth Work - Opportunities for All is due to be published by the Scottish Executive on Tuesday (August 1). It is "broadly equivalent" to the English Youth Matters green paper that was published last summer, according to a spokesperson for the Scottish Executive.
The paper was due to be published in draft form last September (YPN, 15-21 June 2005, p7), but was delayed because of "time spent consulting various voluntary organisations and youth partners".
The document stresses the importance of promoting a "modern and positive image" of youth work to attract young people and volunteers.
It stresses the need to develop the Scottish Youth Parliament to engage more young people, for youth projects to demonstrate outcomes and impacts, and proposes the registration of youth workers and volunteers.
