SCOTLAND: Executive to target vulnerable groups

1 min read

The Pupil Inclusion Network will bring together public and voluntary organisations in the hope of developing a clearer approach to re-engaging vulnerable young people.

The Aberlour Crannog Project in Dumfries and Galloway, Barnardo's Scotland and Right Track are among the organisations already involved.

Andrew Saunders, children's services manager at Barnardo's Blackford Brae service, which works with children with behavioural and educational difficulties, said: "We welcome this initiative as an opportunity for the agencies involved in supporting vulnerable young people to share and develop good practice, influence policy and listen to and learn from those most affected by exclusion."

Peter Peacock, Scotland's education minister, said: "The potential for the Scottish Executive, local authorities and the voluntary sector to work in partnership to provide a coherent framework to support these young people is an opportunity that should be welcomed."
