Building work on The Dunblane Sports Hall and Youth Centre, which also received 200,000 from the sportscotland Lottery Fund, is due to be completed in July. The 1.9m centre will have a youth club area and a sports area with fitness, music and arts studios.
Alan Robinson, chairman of the Dunblane Youth and Sports Centre Trust, said: "The invasion of violence in places where young people had once felt relaxed and safe, such as the school and community, had left them with feelings of insecurity. So the initial response from the community was to set up a drop-in centre for young people to go, and the new centre is a development of that initiative. We want young people to feel ownership of this place and feel valued."
