1 min read
Unison members at one of Scotland's main social care providers have voted to go on strike.

Staff at Quarriers, which provides services for 350 children and youngpeople, voted by two to one to take strike action in a dispute overpay.

Unison has announced that the first action is likely to take place on 25April, but at this stage it is not known which services will beaffected.

The union balloted staff on industrial action after pay talks broke downwhen Quarriers' management offered staff a 2.5 per cent pay rise andrefused to target pay rises at the lowest paid.

Unison regional officer Simon Macfarlane said: "Our members don't workin social care for financial reward, but we can't continue to have staffworking for Quarriers seeking charity because they themselves areexperiencing poverty."
