1 min read
Schools in Scotland should be transformed into integrated centres for school and pre-school provision, members of the Scottish Parliament have been told.

The calls were made by organisations giving evidence to a ScottishParliament inquiry into early years education and childcare.

Children in Scotland called for more "radical thinking" in its evidenceto the inquiry, which is being held by the parliament's EducationCommittee.

The charity wants to see the development of "children and young people'scentres" encompassing schools, full-time daycare and out-of-schoolcare.

Meanwhile, Unison is planning to use the inquiry to push for wider useof a model developed in Glasgow, which has seen the creation ofjoined-up campuses of pre-school and school provision.

Carol Ball of Glasgow City Unison said: "Parents can drop off threechildren under 12 and they will all be educated and cared for within onebuilding."
