The 10-day project for 18- to 23-year-olds is the first Scotland-based programme to be run by Encompass, a charity set up to encourage intercultural tolerance among young people.
Called Journey of Understanding, it will be run in partnership with Outward Bound UK, which is providing accommodation and activities including hiking and sailing. Twelve young Brits will meet four Indonesians, four Israelis and four Palestinians on the shore of Loch Eil. Group discussions will explore themes of identity, communication and conflict.
The young people will be encouraged to set up projects on their return home to further intercultural understanding.
Encompass was set up by the family of Daniel Braden, 27, who was killed in the Bali bombings in 2002. It has brought more than 200 Indonesian, Israeli, Palestinian, American, British and Irish young people together.
