Project: Respect Theatre Project
Mission: To reduce antisocial behaviour in Stoke-on-Trent
Funding: £29,000 from Vodafone Community Foundation
The Respect Theatre Project was set up by national charity Children's Safety Education Foundation to grab the attention of secondary school pupils and raise awareness of antisocial behaviour and its impact on the community.
The charity created a play and worked with young people to write a script based around three key themes: substance misuse; antisocial behaviour and criminal damage. The finished play was then performed to 3,000 secondary school pupils across Stoke-on-Trent to show them the effects of negative behaviour.
After the play was performed in front of the pupils they were asked to fill in a questionnaire about how it affected them.
