Aim To help young people get a job

Unemployed teenagers who have experienced problems at home or school are being helped to gain confidence to find work thanks to a theatre project in Oldham.

Since beginning in February, the scheme at Oldham Coliseum has seen 20 trainees play a role in workshops exploring creativity, teamwork and even how to influence people during presentations.

Rathbone runs the Entry to Employment programme for 16- to 18-year-olds with all those completing the course receiving a City & Guilds Arts Award at bronze level.

The scheme combines learning life and employability skills with earning qualifications and going on work experience.
