When Mark Edginton took up the post of partnership manager for young people's substance misuse in Lambeth in November 2004, his task was to develop an integrated model of support for young people. This meant ensuring the right structures were in place to enable practitioners from a wider range of statutory and voluntary agencies to work together effectively.
The solution
There was already a drug action team subgroup in place in Lambeth, bringing together leaders and practitioners of substance misuse services from different agencies across the borough every six weeks. They work together to produce the borough's annual young people's substance misuse plan.
