Trade secretary Patricia Hewitt says too many young people are playing video and computer games that include "high levels of violence". Do young people think she is right? Talk about the effects of playing violent games.

Do they change young people's thinking or behaviour? If so, how? Talk about why adults are assumed to be less affected.

Earlier this year, the parents of a 14-year-old murder victim blamed a video game called Manhunt for their son's death. Stefan Pakeerah was battered and stabbed by his 17-year-old friend Warren Leblanc. The two used to play Manhunt together. The point of the game is not just to kill people, but to score points by how violent and brutal the killing is.
