Various illegal and misleading mobile phone service adverts have been targeted at children and young people, according to the Office of Fair Trading. It says some services offered on web sites, ranging from logos and ring tones to pictures and games, were misleading and unclear. Some of the sites had unsuitable content for the age group, such as violence, erotic elements, alcohol and tobacco.

Talk to young people about adverts for phone services. Are they ever tempted by them? Do they realise that they can be caught out by agreeing to try out services without knowing their true cost? Has anyone ever signed up for a subscription without knowing how to cancel it?
