Author Gill Cressey has managed to bind together some much overlooked aspects of the socio-cultural domains of Muslim society and attitudes towards single-sex youth work with young women.

The book reveals the nature and the values of the work of 11 organisations - including Guiding, a lads' and girls' club, an arts group and a neighbourhood women's group - that have developed and delivered a vast amount of varied activities. This is important work and I found a beauty in the honesty and freedom displayed when tackling issues such as race, gender, language, class, sexuality, politics and religion.
