Guest edited by Muhammad Khan, a former youth worker and now lecturer at the University of Birmingham, it features articles from many of those taking part in the two recent Muslim Youth Work conferences organised by the University of Birmingham in partnership with The NYA and Youth & Policy.

Writing in the introduction to the summer issue of the journal, Muhammad Khan says: "The articles presented here are from individuals involved in 'communities of practice', whose insight can be overlooked, either through their position in institutional hierarchies or within the politics of representation that exist in the relationships between the state and the Muslim communities.
