1. Christmas is supposed to be a family time. Young people generally value their families, more so than they sometimes let on. But they also need to be with their mates. And some young people don't have families at all, or not ones that offer much Christmas spirit. The holidays can be a bad time for them. Closed services, commercialism in full swing, and bad weather for hanging around means they don't get to see each other. Encourage them to take steps to keep in touch through the bleak midwinter festival.
