1. The new way with equality is to call it freedom to flourish, says the Equality Review Panel. Its chair, Trevor Phillips, who is also chair of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights, says women are the biggest disadvantaged group in the UK, particularly women in employment. But the limitations on what women can do start young - and so do the solutions.

2. Freedom to flourish doesn't just cover equality regarding job opportunities and pay. Some of the areas relevant to a youth work agenda include family and social life, education and quality of life. Many young women accept early on that the world is not fair, that young men do things they won't be allowed to, or will be mocked for even suggesting. Youth projects have a duty to challenge and change that.
