Resources: Project notes - University taster project

1 min read

Goals: To give looked-after young people and care-leavers an opportunity to explore the option of university and increase their aspirations

Funding: Aimhigher provided 415 for staff training and transport costs

Tracy Shaw, personal adviser at Bury Connexions, led the project. "The perception of university for these young people is that it is all about paperwork, and it is intimidating for them," she says. "This project showed them that they are entitled to go to university if they want to."
