Goals: To give sex advice to young people with learning disabilities
Funding: 100,000 over three years from the Big Lottery Fund
Dealing with the sexual development of young people with learning difficulties as they grow older is a delicate issue, and one that has been avoided in the past.
But an fpa project in Northern Ireland aims to tackle the issue. Just Ask! was set up at the end of last year, following the publication of a three-year report, Out of the Shadows. The document was produced by fpa in association with the University of Ulster, and profiled the feelings and experiences of young people with learning disabilities towards, sex, sexuality and relationships.
