What it is: UV Club, Hertfordshire Goals: To provide a real nightclub for disabled and non-disabled young people Funding: 15,000 from Hertfordshire County Council and 10 district councils in Hertfordshire

Having a disability can lead to segregation and isolation for many disabled teenagers, who naturally want the same things as their non-disabled peers, such as going out clubbing and having fun.

In Hertfordshire, a consultation with disabled young people has led to the county holding its first integrated club night, bringing disabled and non-disabled young people together.

The UV Club project was organised by ActOne ArtsBase, an integrated theatre company for young people that is run in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council's Children, Schools and Families Service, East Herts District Council and Broxbourne Borough Council. The result was a big success, with about 100 young people aged 12 to 16 attending the event held at the Marquee venue in Hertford.
