Goals: To consult young people on the future of Basingstoke town centre
Funding: 7,000 from the Local Network Fund to cover April to September 2007
When Hampshire Borough Council began consulting local people on the redevelopment of Basingstoke town centre, young people were not involved. But for the past few months work has been under way to include their views.
The consultation is being carried out by local arts-based organisation The Making. Simon Taylor, education manager at The Making, says: "The borough council has been asking local businesses in the area about their views, but we noticed they were not including young people who will, after all, be the residents of the future."
