The Street Surfer or Wave Board, as it's sometimes known, is built on an X-axis and has two wheels instead of the usual four. Riders gain momentum by shifting their weight from side to side instead of pushing themselves along to gain speed.

The sport is said to be like a combination of skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing and has a number of health benefits - from improving core stability, to muscle conditioning and boosting cardiovascular endurance.

The boards are available from a range of stockists and cost from about £65.
