It is a unique online T-shirt store (www.iloveboxie.com) based on the concept that people send in a personal anecdote about their lives, the designers choose a line to print on a customised T-shirt and then produce it for others to buy and wear. This ingenious idea makes the T-shirts a must-have for the New Year and, with slogans such as "Somebody spiked my dream" and "I'm with the ghost", they are guaranteed to impress friends and onlookers.
The xx are an alternative rock/pop band from south-west London. Their electronic yet chilled and predominantly slow tracks, which include Basic Space and the more recognisable Crystalised, create a genuinely original indie sound. Despite their keyboardist leaving the group last year, they have continued as a trio and toured with bands such as Friendly Fires and Florence and the Machine. They were placed at number six in the 2009 NME Future 50 list and are definitely ones to watch as their popularity increases on the back of the release of their debut album xx in August. The show to watch in 2010 is E20, a new online-only spin-off of EastEnders. Based around a group of sixth-form students, as well as a few familiar faces from The Square, the storyline will cross through into the main show. The online series has been created by 13 talented young writers aged between 17 and 22 and is part of the EastEnders 25th anniversary celebrations. As well as developing new talent, E20 will explore the highs and lows of teenage life, making it relevant to all young people.
