The word "supermodel" seems to be bandied about for just about every young woman who makes it into an M&S commercial these days.

But to truly be considered up there with the likes of Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, you have to have staying power in the cutthroat modelling world and generate more than your fair share of newspaper column inches. Agyness Deyn is doing just fine on both counts.

The 25-year-old from Rochdale, Lancashire, hit the big time when she appeared on the front cover of Italian Vogue two years ago and has since gone on to become the face - and body - of clothing brands like Armani, Burberry, Hugo Boss and Mulberry. Last month, she graced the cover of the UK edition of Vogue. Rumour has it, though, that she's become so famous so quickly that Burberry is dropping her as its leading model. She's come a long way since working in a fish and chip shop at the age of 16.
