Resources: Funding watch - National Youth Volunteering Programme

1 min read
What it is: v is the youth volunteering charity that is aiming to get a million more young people volunteering. It has launched a grant-making programme as part of its efforts to transform youth volunteering in England. To engage young people, the programme seeks to stimulate the creation of volunteering opportunities that tap into young people's passions and concerns.

The funding is the first element of the National Youth VolunteeringProgramme - a framework for youth volunteering, which the RussellCommission into volunteering considered vital to delivering a "stepchange in the quantity, quality and diversity of youthvolunteering".

How much is on offer: Organisations with a turnover of less than 150,000 a year can apply for grants between 30,000 and 50,000. Larger organisations can apply for 50,000 to 100,000. Grants can last up to three years.

What it will fund: There are two strands of funding. Organisations canapply for funding to deliver opportunities directly to young people, orthey can use it to build capacity, bringing more organisations and youngpeople into volunteering. Proposals should demonstrate how young peoplewill be involved in planning and leading voluntary activity.Opportunities should capture the imagination of young people whileharnessing their skills.
