Volunteering: Volunteering body v creates 70m funding programme

1 min read

The funding marks the first element of the National Youth Volunteering Programme, which is aimed at creating a "step change in the quantity, quality and diversity of youth volunteering opportunities".

The grants are designed for voluntary organisations and will be distributed in two strands. Large to medium-sized organisations can apply for grants of 50,000 to 100,000 a year over three years. Grants of between 30,000 and 50,000 are available for small organisations over the same period. Statutory bodies can apply if they are part of a consortium led by a voluntary organisation.

A spokeswoman for v said that the 70m fund was intended to align volunteering with young people's interests and passions: "A recent survey revealed that more young people would get involved if they could find opportunities that tap into their passions and concerns."
