1 min read
What it is: Community Food and Health (Scotland) is a project managed by the Scottish Consumer Council and funded by the Scottish Executive.

Its annual small grants scheme is aimed at groups and agencies that wishto improve access to and take-up of a healthy diet.

How much is on offer: The grants on offer are between 500 and3,000.

What it will fund: Grants will only be given to projects working inlow-income communities in Scotland. Successful applicants must alsotackle one or more of the barriers to healthy eating that were set outin 1996's Eating for Health: A Diet Action Plan for Scotland:availability, such as the lack of fruit and vegetables at a reasonablequality and cost; affordability, including the costs of getting to shopsand the shopping itself; the lack of skills and confidence necessary tocook and shop for healthy meals; and culture, such as long-establishedbad dietary habits.
