What will it support? It operates several grant schemes, the most significant of which for most youth groups will be the "amenity" strand of the main scheme and the small grants scheme. The amenity strand will fund community facilities that offer opportunities for recreation, sporting achievement, lifelong learning and community involvement. Facilities that improve quality of life for teenagers and children are a specific priority. The CR3 project in Surrey has been awarded 48,000 to improve and extend its existing skatepark and make use of a nearby building for the 400 young people who use the venue every week. The small grants scheme allows quick access to smaller amounts that can make an impact on quality of life through wildlife conservation measures, access to informal learning opportunities or access to sport and recreation. The 13th Allerton Scouts in Merseyside used this programme to provide new community amenities at local woodlands.
