How did you get into this? I was a mainstream primary school teacher, then I did special educational needs work, then worked with looked-after children for Manchester local education authority. I've worked with the National Teaching & Advisory Service for six years.
What are the most fulfilling and challenging aspects of your work? The relationship you build with young people is the best thing and contributing to them being happy and making progress. I also like the variety. The challenging part is getting people to fulfil their role as corporate parents and fighting for young people's entitlement to the right education for them.
