How did you get into this? I was at university until 2003, where I was studying management and physical education. During and before university, I worked as a lifeguard, a football coach and a recreation assistant. I did lots of volunteering, getting involved in things like setting up competitions and being part of a youth group.

How do you apply your experience to motivating young people? I don't ever have problems motivating young people. A lot of young people love sport, and because they get lots out of it themselves it's a natural thing for them to give up their time to help other people. The job is about trying to put yourself in their shoes and remembering what it was like to be 16. If you've never been a sports club member, for example, it can be daunting.
